The study of the human experience helps us to understand the world around us it helps us to comprehend cultures and how history is made By studying a course which explores the world since 1492 we foster historians that offer a considered perspective about the relationship between the past and future thinking critically about the world through the lens of the past History BA is a course which is designed to facilitate your engagement with the historical forces which have led to the emergence of the modern world It caters to those who wish to understand how human societies have changed over time It fosters critical thinking skills whilst inviting you to analyse how forces such as racism gender constructs class political identities war and the environment have intersected interacted and evolved The course helps you to engage with primary historic sources providing opportunities for you to engage with the materials upon which historians rely as well a broad range of voices from marginalised communities Assessments are varied and innovative Opportunities are embedded throughout the course which will allow you to develop a portfolio of not only written pieces but media artefacts and international experiences which include accredited fieldtrips and online international learning projects We offer you a unique way to study the past engaging in independent research projects immersed in contemporary sources connecting to peers in a range of international settings and providing opportunities to engage in creative media-based assessment types
