As a student or counselor-in-training you ll gain experience with mental health agencies through networking and internships Through these agencies you ll work with individuals groups and families in therapy and qualify to work in the wide-ranging field of counseling After graduating register with the state of Florida to complete two years of supervised clinical hours and pass the national exam to become a licensed mental health counselor LMHC or nationally certified counselor NCC
