Civil engineers tackle some of the greatest challenges in contemporary society by designing and building structures and infrastructure for an increasingly urbanised global population in an ever-changing environment Our BEng Civil Engineering degree can be studied with a placement year over 4 years or without over 3 years Completing a placement year successfully earns students an additional qualification Diploma in Industrial Studies Students on the Civil Engineering BEng Hons degree may transfer to the Civil Engineering MEng Hons degree at the end of Year 2 subject to satisfactory performance Our Civil Engineering courses also offer sponsorship extensive laboratory facilities several field courses away from the university including surveying geotechnics and water engineering
