Mechanical engineers design and develop many of the products systems and technologies that move everyday life Mechanical engineers apply mathematics physics chemistry and other sciences together with computers instrumentation and other tools to create a wide range of hardware software and systems The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program at the University of New Mexico provides graduates with the necessary skills to compete in this rapidly changing discipline In addition the BSME provides a solid scientific foundation for other degrees such as the MBA MD DDS etc UNM ME students have the opportunity to work on energy and transportation projects ranging from racecars to high altitude balloon launches and from building efficiency to alternative energy systems
